General

Do you accept book or item donations?  Our Jeffersonville Branch accepts donations at various times throughout the year.  Please call 845-482-4350 before dropping off donations.  We accept soft and hardcover books, audiobooks on CD, music CDs and DVDs.  For item donations, please contact one of the branch managers.

May I bring my drink inside?  Yes, you can eat and drink inside the library, but please not near any equipment or computers.  Patrons would be responsible for damage to library property in the event of a spill.

How many items can I check out?  With a regular library card, you may check out up to 50 items. 

If I sign up today, can I check out items?  Yes, you can check out items.

May I bring my pet inside?  If your pet is a service animal, you may bring it inside. 

Do you have a notary?  No, not at present.  Check with the village and town clerks or your bank.

Can I order titles not on your shelves?  Yes, please ask us and we will be glad to search for the item.  If it is not in the 47 libraries in the Ramapo Catskill Library System, then we will keep searching throughout the state and country.

Do you have a local history room?  Our Delaware Free Branch has a local history room.  The Tusten-Cochecton Branch is the home to the Tusten Historical Society.  Ask the staff at the front desk how to make an appointment with one of their members.  The Jeffersonville Branch has a local history collection available for in-house use.

Can I make suggestions for the collection? Yes, please.  Let our staff at the front desk know or email one of our branches.

Do you accept donations?  Donations can be made to the library directly or through PayPal.

Library cards

How do I get a library card?  You can sign up in-person or online.  Proof of address and a valid ID need to be brought into the library to complete the process.  Out-of-district and temporary cards are available for a fee.  Please click here for additional information.

At what age can I get a library card?  With a parent or guardian signature, cards are available for ages 5- 17. 

Where can I use my library card?  With a regular library card, you can use it at any of the 47 libraries in the Ramapo Catskill Library System, with buildings in Orange, Ulster, Rockland and Sullivan Counties.  Some Out-of-district cards can also be used at all 47 RCLS libraries.

What can I use my card for?  Your library card can be used to check out materials, borrow ebooks and audiobooks online, stream films on Kanopy and access databases and other online resources. 

How do I sign into my account?  Visit the library’s website on a laptop or computer and select Catalog at the top of the page or Online Library > Library Catalog.  Log in with your library card and pin number at the top of the screen.  On tablets and mobile devices, download the RCLS Library Catalog app from your app store.

What’s my pin number?  In general, your pin number is the last four digits of your telephone number.  If it does not work, call us and we will look it up.

How do I get on Libby?  Download the Libby app from your app store, or if you are accessing Libby from a computer, go to Libbyapp.com.

How do I access the catalog?  Visit the library’s website on a laptop or computer and select Catalog at the top of the page or Online Library > Library Catalog.  On tablets and mobile devices, download the RCLS Library Catalog app from your app store.

Services and Technology

Do I need a library card to use the computer?  No everyone can use the public computers.

Is there free wifi?  Yes, there is free wifi at the three branches.  Search for a network on your device and choose LIBRARY WIFI.  You will be brought to a policy page.  Click Accept to access the wifi.

Do you have a copy machine?  Yes, our three branches each have a black & white copying machine.  The cost is $0.25 per copy.

Can I print from my phone?  Not at this time.  Printing is available from our public computers $0.25 for b&w and $0.50 for color prints.

Can I print from a USB drive?  Yes, if it is connected to the printer through one of our public computers. You can also print from your email if you have access to an attached file.

What is the speed of your internet?  Currently it is 200mbps down and 10mbps up.
