September Open Mic First Fridays
Open Mic First Fridays continues at the Western Sullivan Public Library! Join us Friday, September 6th, from 6:15pm to 8:30pm at the Delaware Free Branch on 45 Lower Main St. in Callicoon to see an accomplished featured poet and participate in open mic. All performers and poets are welcome! Share a poem, song, story, or other inspiration. Register on the library’s calendar at www.WSPLonline.org. For additional information, email wsplprograms@rcls.org.
The evening starts at 6:15pm with open mic sign-up and continues with Joyce Hayden, a writer, visual artist, and a former university writing professor. An advocate for underserved populations, Joyce has led generative writing groups for battered women, teens at risk and survivors of abuse. She continues to facilitate online creative writing classes and has taught a weekly online Ekphrastic writing class for four years. Her chapbook, Lost Handprint, was selected for publication by The Dandelion Press in 2017. Joyce has taught classes at San Diego Writers Ink, Massachusetts Poetry Festival, Seaport Shores, and other venues. Her work appears in Al Jazeera English, The Yellow Arrow Journal, Manifest Station, and many other publications. She received her MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
This event is funded with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
