July Open Mic First Fridays

Open Mic First Fridays continues at the Western Sullivan Public Library! Join us Friday, July 5th, from 6:15pm to 8:30pm at the Delaware Free Branch on 45 Lower Main St. in Callicoon to see an accomplished featured poet and participate in open mic. All performers and poets are welcome! Share a poem, song, story, or other inspiration. The evening starts at 6:15pm with open mic sign-up and continues with Matt Coonan, a poet, emcee & teacher from New York. He holds an MFA in creative writing and literature from Stony Brook University and is a three-time SUNY Oneonta Grand Slam Champion. He is also the recipient of a 2017 Live Mas Scholarship. He is the author of Toy Gun (Button Poetry, 2023), as well as two chapbooks. His poems have been featured on Button Poetry and published in Tinderbox Poetry Journal, The Southampton Review, Inklette, among others. Matt is also a vocalist in the improvisational jazz band Bright Dog Red. Their sixth and seventh studio albums were released April 26th, 2024 from Ropeadope Records. 

This event is funded with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
