First Fridays Author Series: Poet Laureate-palooza

But, please welcome international touring poet Samantha Thornhill and --not 1 but 2 --Sullivan County Poet Laureates to celebrate our "Freedom to Read!"  Sharon Kennedy-Nolle, one of 23 Academy of American Poets 2023 Fellows, and The Effervescent Eric Baylin, Sullivan County's 2021 Poet Laureate will open. OPEN MIC: 10, 3-min slots. Come with excerpts of your own "dangerous" writing or pick a short excerpt from the "Challenged Bowl."  Banned Books trivia and prizes. 

Samantha Thornhill is a globally-traveled poet, educator and children’s author from the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. She was a decade-long professor at the Julliard School, consultant for Def Poetry Jam You Tube channel, and founding creator of Poets in Unexpected Places, profiled in the New York Times for their dynamic, pop-up poetry performances in public spaces. Samantha's poetry collection, The Animated Universe, was published by Peepal Tree Press in 2022.
