February 2025 Book Clubs

February Book Clubs @ WSPL

Sullivan County, NY: Looking to join a book club? Check out the groups at Western Sullivan Public Library in February.

Our NEW Mystery/Thriller Book Club will meet Thursday, February 6th at 5pm at the Jeffersonville Branch to discuss The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. Help us plan for the rest of the year and discuss the kinds of books you want to see us feature. “[A] jaunty mystery. . . What's delightful is that there are no stereotypes here — the senior citizens solve the murder with wit, style and ferocious intelligence. The puzzle is intricate and involving, but there's a breeziness about it that makes it an ideal hammock read.” –NPR

Do you like reading a specific genre that includes romance and fantasy? Our Romantasy Book Club will meet on Wednesday, February 12th at 5:00pm at the Tusten-Cochecton Branch to discuss A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen. “Captivating and sexy . . . With a fierce heroine and a smoldering hero, A Fate Inked in Blood is everything you want in a fantasy romance.”—Elise Kova, USA Today bestselling author of A Deal with the Elf King

The Callicoon Book Club will meet on Tuesday, February 18th at 5:00pm at the Delaware Free Branch. We will discuss The Woman in the Dunes by Kobo Abe. “Abe follows with meticulous precision his hero's constantly shifting physical, emotional and psychological states.” —The New York Times Book Review

The Narrowsburg Book Club meets Wednesday, February 26th at 11:00am at the Tusten-Cochecton Branch in Narrowsburg to discuss James by Percival Everett. “[A] careful and thought-provoking auditing of Huckleberry Finn. . . [James is] a kind of commentary or midrash, broadening our understanding of an endangered classic by bringing out the tragedy behind the comic facade. And that is no small thing. I expect that James will be spoken of as a repudiation of Huckleberry Finn, but a book like this can only be written in a spirit of engaged devotion. More than a correction, it’s a rescue mission. And maybe this time it will work.” —The Wall Street Journal
