Family Programs in February
Is cabin fever starting to set in? Are you running out of things to do with your child? Come to the library - we’ve got lots of things for you to do! The Children’s Rooms at each of our branches are set up for passive enjoyment, as well as reading. You can also join us for a scheduled program.
Let’s Play! is a program designed for the more active child - 3 and under. Twice this month we’ll meet up with other families to help the littlest ones develop their social and motor skills. Adults can connect with other caregivers to share tips and ideas. We've created a safe space for families to connect and children to interact with each other in open play. The loose structure will allow the group to fluidly spend time socializing as well as learning. We’ll meet from 10:00 - 11:30 am on Tuesday, February 13th at the Tusten-Cochecton Branch AND February 27th at the Jeffersonville Branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library. Come for any or all of the time that works for you!
From February 9th - 23rd we’ll have our annual StoryWalk set up in Callicoon! What’s a StoryWalk? It’s a fun way to read a book together as a family while also enjoying the town. This year, we’re really excited about the total eclipse happening in our area this April. So we’ve picked the book “Eclipse” by Andy Rash for you to read and walk through. This self-paced walk will begin at the Delaware Free Branch and take you on a scavenger hunt to find each page in a different shop window throughout the hamlet of Callicoon. This program is completely outdoors, please dress for the weather.
Next, for children ages 6 & older we’ll be celebrating Library Lovers Month with some Puppy Love! Come have a visit with our special friend, Jack. He’ll be hanging out with us from 5:00 - 5:50 pm on Thursday, 2/15 at our Jeffersonville Branch. Sign up today for your chance to read to this sweet pup!
Last but not least, we’ll end the month with a StoryWalk Storytime. This month, if weather allows, we’ll close out our annual Storywalk with an interactive session. Meet us at the front desk and join Miss Kristen for a walk through town as we make our way through this year’s book - Eclipse by Andy Rash. This program is for children ages 3-5, but all are welcome. Strollers may work best with younger children. Please dress to be outdoors. See you at 10:15am on Friday, February 23rd at our Delaware Free Branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library.
